Summary The Accounting Generalist performs a variety of accounting duties including the maintenance and review of financial records, preparing and entering journals, and inputting data into the accounting software.
This position is a full back-up for the Accounts Payable Specialist, and the Accounting Specialist, covering all duties of these positions when required, and must be proficient in the operation of the accounting ERP, the corporate expense reconciliation system, and the donor database.
The Accounting Generalist fosters a servant heart and attitude and approaches the responsibilities of the position with vision and diplomacy allowing for growth and change as needs dictate.
This position must have the ability to efficiently communicate in a variety of mediums and be tactful in all situations.
The Accounting Generalist serves as part of the accounting team reporting to the Director of Global Accounting.

Duties 1.
Accounts Payable Vendor Records First line of communication with new vendors to obtain the necessary information, per Finance Department standards, to setup new vendors in a timely manner.
Maintain all vendor recordsAddress, telephone numbers, company contacts ACH, USD, and foreign currency transfer instructions Miscellaneous documentations such as W-9s, requests to change addresses or bank information, etc.
Yearly maintenance to vendor recordsVerify existing ACH and wire instructions Remove unused vendors, and inactivate vendors no longer in regular use.

Maintenance and monthly reconciliation of the Bible League Volunteer checking accounts Input and post all journals related to these accounts.
Transfer funds as needed.
Research requests and provide Finance support of the Volunteer accounts to staff outside the Finance Department as needed.
3.
Balance vendor statements and work with Accounts Payable to resolve any issues.
4.
Vendor Contracts Work with staff to ensure vendor contracts are in order prior to sending payments.
Work with Compliance to maintain current vendor contracts stored in the accounting ERP.
5.
Support the Director of Accounting Operations as needed, including but not limited to:
Verify and troubleshoot various financial reports.
Prepare journal entries.
Input general data into the accounting ERP.
6.
Assist in the yearly preparation of 1099s.
Provide a yearly list of vendors paid through Accounts Payable, and the Volunteer accounts, to the Director of Global Accounting, researching vendors and payments as needed.
Prepare the 1099s as indicated by the Director of Global Accounting.
7.
Serve as a full back for Accounts Payable and the Accounting Specialist covering vacations and extended absences as needed.
8.
Perform other duties as requested.

Finance Team, individuals at all levels of the organization, as well as auditors, vendors, and financial institutions.
Qualifications 1.
Must be a Christian, having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Must also agree with our statement of faithand conduct his/herself in a Christ-like manner.

Associate Degree and/or 3 years relevant experience.

Strong mathematical and problem-solving abilities 4.
Experience with handling confidential matters.
5.
Elevated computer and organizational skills, and a solid knowledge of Word, Excel, and financial record management.
6.
Able to work well alone, ask for help if needed, and make appropriate independent decisions as necessary.
7.
Must be detail-oriented, a good communicator, and able to work with individuals at all levels of the organization.
